STRAWBERRY FRUIT LEATHER
Strawberry Fruit Leather may be the easiest healthy snack I've ever made. I really liked the idea of taking fruit in it's most natural form and turning into something quick to eat that isn't full of processed sugars and dyes. You can also use this method to make other types of fruit into leathers as well, peach season is coming up next!
You will need:
- 3 cups of fruit made into puree
- Wax paper and a knife
- Silicone mat lined baking sheets
To make the fruit leather, combine your puree fruit and a few tablespoons of honey, to suit your sweet tooth. I used 3 tbsp. Spread this into a thin layer over top of your silicone lined baking sheets, it should be enough for two sheets. Bake the sheets in an oven at 200 degrees for about 3 hours. Your leather will dehydrate slowly and should be rubbery and darkened when you remove it. Let the leather sit overnight so that it can reach maximum chewy consistency. When you are ready to cut it, peel it off of the silicone sheet and lay it onto a piece of wax paper. Roll the wax paper and the leather together into a long roll, then slice it into sections to make your own fruit roll ups. Store these in an airtight container.
